Faith, fellowship and golf set for Our Lady of Lourdes fundraiser

GOLF, faith and community spirit will come together in Bulawayo this weekend when the Archdiocese of Bulawayo hosts the Our Lady of Lourdes 2026 Golf Day at Harry Allen Golf Club.

The fundraising event, scheduled for Saturday, promises to bring together golfers, parishioners, businesspeople and well-wishers for a day of sport, fellowship and giving.

Played under an Individual Stableford format, the tournament carries a modest competition fee of US$25, making it an accessible event for golfers while providing an opportunity to support the work of the church.

But beyond the competition on the fairways, organisers say the real prize will be the contribution made towards the development of parish communities.

Proceeds from the Golf Day will go towards various parish projects, giving the event a strong community-development purpose and allowing participants to combine their passion for golf with a worthy cause.

With a number of prizes up for grabs, competition is expected to be keen as golfers battle for honours while also chasing the day’s special prizes.

The designated Nearest to the Pin (NTP) holes are 3, 7, 12 and 17, while the Longest Drive contests will be held on holes 5 and 14.

The event comes at a time when fundraising initiatives such as these remain important in supporting church programmes and parish projects, particularly as communities seek sustainable ways of financing development.
